The ION cache is a collection of files (called a data cube) on a user’s local workstation that stores high-demand information from the eoStar database. Anytime this information is needed in eoStar, it is pulled from the cache rather than accessing the database directly. This ensures both that the information is presented to the user in a timely manner and that database performance does not suffer from a large amount of direct queries.
