EoStar Scheduler Plugin

Jump to: navigation, search

This plugin was designed to automate various common eoStar tasks.

There are two parts to this plugin:

  • The DLL file that is added as a plugin in eoStar.
  • The scheduler service, which is an independently-installed Windows service.

In order for a user to access any of these screens, the correct permission must be given using the slider bars on the Access Records Panel on the Employee Records.

Scheduler Service

The scheduler service is a Windows service that is intended to be installed once. It is best to install it on the SQL server. Periodically, the service will poll the server for a list of tasks from eoStar. If it determines that any are scheduled to run, then it will do so and provide any feedback in the event log.

  • The service can run on multiple machines, but it is unneeded.
  • The service should automatically start up when Windows starts, as long as it's set to "Automatic" in the management panel.
  • Issues will show in the "Error" or "Warning" icons in the event log.
  • Schedules will be kept based on the system time of the database server, rather than the time on the scheduler machine or other clients.
  • The service installs some DLLs into the Rutherford / Program Files subdirectory. It also installs a configuration file which needs to be directed to the location of your eoStar database.
